2018 ISCHIA GLOBAL FILM & MUSIC FEST SELECTS CHERYL BOONE ISAACS AS CHAIR AND ANDREA LEONE AS PRESIDENT OF THE 16TH ANNUAL EVENT WHICH TAKES PLACE JULY 15-22

 ROME, ITALY, March 27, 2018 – Cheryl Boone Isaacs, past president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences and a highly-respected entertainment industry marketing executive, will be chairperson, and noted Italian filmmaker and company executive Andrea Leone will serve as president of the 16th Annual Ischia Global Film & Music Festival it was revealed here today by the Board of the Ischia International Arts Academy. Prior Festival officials have included philanthropist Kerry Kennedy, Oscar winning production designers Dante Ferretti and Francesca Lo Schiavo and directors Bille August, Steven Zaillian and Michele Placido, as well as producers Marina Cicogna, Paula Wagner and manager Rick Nicita.

The 2018 Ischia Global Film & Music Fest, which takes place on this picturesque island off the coast of Naples from July 15-22 will include a week of major film premieres, socially-relevant symposia, music performances, a master acting class and award ceremonies.

In making the announcement Ischia International Arts Academy honorary president Tony Renis said: “For the past three years Cheryl has been an avid supporter of Ischia Global and Andrea has been an advocate of our Festival for an even greater length of time. We are truly pleased that they have accepted the Board’s invitation to preside over the 16th annual event. With the film and music industries’ current mandate to improve inclusion, and with the major steps that the Italian film industry has taken to attract and increase production within the country, we are certain that under their aegis the festival will focus on issues pertaining to both issues in a meaningful way.”

"What an honor!” said Boone Isaacs. “I have enjoyed the love and friendship that one experiences at the Ischia Film and Music Fest for a few years and am honored to be named its chairperson. It’s exciting to continue the dialogue of inclusion and its positive effect with artists from around the world.”

Boone Isaacs is the immediate past president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, having served the maximum four one-year terms. During her 24 years as a board member she held every officer position as well as producing the Academy’s 2012 4th Annual Governors Awards., As President and CEO of CBI Enterprises, Inc., Boone Isaacs has consulted for companies such as TV Films, Paramount Pictures, Universal Pictures, Lionsgate and Sony Entertainment. She has consulted on marketing efforts for such films as “The Artist,” “The King’s Speech,” and “Spider-Man 2”. She previously served as president of theatrical marketing for New Line Cinema and as executive vice president of worldwide publicity for Paramount Pictures, where she orchestrated, among others, the publicity campaigns for the Best Picture winners “Forrest Gump” and “Braveheart.”

Son of the iconic Italian filmmaker Sergio Leone, Andrea and his sister Raffaella head the Rome-based Leone Film Group. Founded in 1989, the Leone Group has in the last few years established itself as a leading production and distribution company in Italy. It has inked deals with local co-producers and distributors and signed international deals with the likes of DreamWorks, Lionsgate and The Weinstein Company, bringing Oscar favorites like La La Land and Hacksaw Ridge to Italy. The company is also expanding its television production arm, with TV series in the works from Academy Award-winner Giuseppe Tornatore (Cinema Paradiso) and Stefano Sollima (Gomorrah). And they're helping lure big Hollywood productions to Italy by serving as local co-producers.

Presented under the auspices of the Ischia Arts Academy, the Ischia Global Film & Music Fest, is sponsored by Mibact-Dg Cinema and the Campania Region, and the municipalities of the Green Island. The Festival’s Honorary Board, chaired by the American producer Mark Canton includes Oscar-winners Helen Mirren, Christoph Waltz, Melissa Leo, Jeremy Irons, Alessandro Bertolazzi, and Sandy Powell as well as Taylor Hackford and Bobby Moresco, amongst others.
